Asynchronous motors of the AKZ series (with a phase rotor, closed) are indispensable in drives of heavy power equipment. Due to their high performance, they are often used where there is no need to adjust the rotation speed on the shaft, and start-up often occurs under load. For example: fans, elevator drives, machine tools, cranes, etc.

Design features

Unlike short—circuited motors, AKZ motors have an additional three-phase winding on the rotor, to which a rheostat load is connected through contact rings. This design allows you to start the engine under load. When the shaft accelerates to nominal speeds, the additional resistance is turned off.

Thanks to this design, AKZ electric motors acquire a number of advantages over short-circuited ones:

small inrush currents;

resistance to short-term overloads;

large initial torque;

constant rotation speed;
